I have been running my business since 2020 when I set up during my maternity leave. There’s just me. After starting off as a side hustle, this is now my full time job, a book club host!

I’m a primary teacher by trade. I taught in a Reception Class for 12 years, in charge of a class of 30 4/5 year olds and my 2 wonderful TA’s. I was also Forest School Leader and ran sessions throughout the school, for Reception up to Year 6. I can’t tell you how much I loved this role. My Forest School was my favourite place in the school for so many reasons which I won’t bore you with now!

When I was on maternity leave in 2019/2020 I attended amazing baby groups and classes. I always felt welcomed by the leaders but was so nervous about attending classes myself and meeting new people. I experienced mild depression, separation anxiety and anxiety after having my little one but felt like I was the only one experiencing these things, thinking everyone else was so much more ‘together’ and ‘with it’ than me.

I wanted to create a group for mums where they can meet, make friends, catch up over a brew, share experiences in a relaxed and safe way and so ‘Baby Book Clubs’ were born. Having a baby can be a bit of a rollercoaster, but if you have a good support system of people in the same boat as you, they can become a lifeline.
